Android 15 system

What are the challenges facing Google in releasing Android 15?

It is known that Google and its partners develop and improve many aspects of the Android operating system every year. This work is carried out under the name of the "Open Android Alliance", which is known as the "Open Handset Alliance - OHA". Members of the alliance include major companies such as: Samsung, LG, Sony, Intel, Qualcomm, and others, in addition to Google, which mainly manages and develops the Android systemThis alliance is a group of technology companies that include telecommunications network operators, smartphone manufacturers, chip manufacturers, and software developers. Its main goal is to develop and publish the Android operating system based on the Linux kernel and aims to provide a unified software platform for developers and phone manufacturers. It also works to reduce production costs and increase competitiveness by taking advantage of shared resources. One of the most important goals that the alliance achieves is to accelerate innovation.

The release of the Android system by Google faces several challenges, the most important of which are:

  • Diversity of devices and manufacturers: The Android system operates on a wide range of devices from different companies, including smartphones and tablets. For example, Samsung develops its own phones with specific additions and customizations to the Android system, while other companies, such as Huawei and Xiaomi, incorporate different customizations and features. This variability means that each device may have unique components and requirements, which presents significant challenges for Google in ensuring the system’s compatibility with all devices.
  • Updates and compatibility with applications: This is considered one of the biggest challenges facing Google. It continually strives to ensure that system updates do not affect applications that run on previous versions of Android. For example, Google conducts comprehensive testing of applications on the Google Play Store to ensure compatibility with new updates to the Android system, as some applications may be programmed to work only with specific versions of Android.
  • Security and privacy protection: This is one of the most prominent challenges facing Google, as it continually works to secure the system against security vulnerabilities and threats related to malicious software. Therefore, Google releases regular security updates and introduces new features, such as data protection and restrictions on access to sensitive information.
  • The balance between innovation and compatibility: Although Google is working to introduce new features into the Android system, such as support for artificial intelligence or performance improvements, it must ensure that these features do not negatively affect older devices or applications. This requires meticulous coordination, comprehensive testing, and collaboration with manufacturers and developers to ensure the Android system is delivered effectively and securely to users.

When is Android 15 released? What is the role of the Open Android Alliance?

Google indicated that the current Android 15 version will be mainly for preparing applications and various programs, which includes adding new functions and features that were not available in previous versions.
The update includes major system-wide changes, including new features, improved security, performance, and support for new devices.

Google promised “Android 15” would arrive for “Picycle 9” phones in the coming weeks.

A recent report from the Android Authority website indicates that Google is still working to improve the stability of Android 15 before its public release, so Google plans to release the Android update on October 15. This decision is in line with Google's recent update to the release notes for the Android Beta Exit update. “If you are waiting for the stable version of Android 15, we recommend ignoring this over-the-air update until Android 15 is available in October. This current update will install the latest public version of Android 14 on your device,” it stated in its statement.

Google launched the new Pixel 9 series with Android 14 instead of Android 15, sparking some disappointment as the company usually releases its new devices with the latest operating system. However, many Pixel devices, old and new, will receive the Android 15 update, including the Pixel 6, 7, 8, and 9, as well as foldable devices like the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.

What are the most prominent features of the Android 15 update?

As for the new features, they cover several main aspects, including: “user interface, security and privacy, efficiency and performance,
Support for new devices and modern technology, better integration with applications and services, compatibility with different types of devices.”
Among the information revealed by Google in the new update to Android 15:

1. Partial screen sharing: Sharing or recording a specific application window. What is meant is that when you share or record your screen, everything that is displayed on the screen appears in its entirety, which may include private or unnecessary information new feature lets you choose just one application window to share or record, so only what you want appears, without revealing anything else on the screen. This feature is very useful when working remotely or in presentations, as you can focus on specific content without worrying about privacy or distractions.

2. Satellite connectivity support: Most smartphones rely on traditional cellular networks (such as 4G and 5G) for connectivity. But in remote areas or when regular networks are not available, it becomes difficult to connect to the Internet or make calls. Support for satellite connectivity means that the phone can connect to satellite networks directly, allowing users to stay connected even in areas not covered by traditional networks. This feature is a major development, especially in emergency situations or when traveling to remote places.

3. New camera controls: Provides improved low-light performance and advanced flash power adjustments. The most important of which is improved webcam video quality for Pixel devices. This mode will enable you to use your Pixel device as a webcam with better clarity when making video calls or recording content.

4. Enhanced Bluetooth capabilities: With a new pop-up dialog box, this box will enable you to manage Bluetooth-connected devices more easily. Instead of navigating between different menus, you will be able to see and manage connected devices from one integrated window, making the control process easier and faster

5. Auracast Audio Sharing: This feature allows you to stream audio from your device to nearby devices via Bluetooth LE (Bluetooth Low Energy). For example, you can easily stream music from your phone to connected headphones or speakers, or even share audio with more than one device at the same time, improving the listening experience in public places or during gatherings.

6. Manage app behavior: When you use a foldable device like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you may have two screens: a large main screen and a smaller cover screen. Android 15 lets you manage how apps behave on both screens. For example, if you're browsing the Internet on the big screen and open another app on the Cover Screen, the system will adjust the app's behavior so that the experience remains seamless and seamless between the two screens. For example, if you are reading an article on a large screen and open a message on the cover screen, you may be able to continue reading or navigating smoothly without having to reload or adjust the size of the application.
